Frequently asked questions

Here are some of the typical questions we are asked about the technologies we use and the services we offer.

Will you help me plan my website?

Yes – we discuss your website before quoting, so that we can provide an accurate, detailed and meaningful quotation. On acceptance, you will be invited to attend a project initiation meeting where we work with you to plan your website and content in detail. We also offer writing, editing and photographic services as additional options.

What if I am not able to come into your offices for a meeting during office hours?

We offer Saturday morning consultations subject to these being booked in advance. These are popular with aspirant entrepreneurs who are planning to start a business (and need a website), but who are still employed full-time and cannot meet with us during normal office hours.

I’m not in Cape Town or South Africa. Can you still build my website?

Yes we can – we have clients throughout South Africa and as far afield as the USA.  We engage with and support our international clients via online video calls and host their websites with our data centre partners in Germany, rather than locally.  All support is provided from our local offices.

What do websites typically cost?

We offer a range of solutions to meet almost any budget. More importantly, every website we build, irrespective of size, can be extended or upgraded on a modular basis. This makes it easy to start small and have your website grow with your business.

What is a CMS website?

CMS stands for Content Management System, which means that the content of the website may be updated through an Admin login. You will be given a login to enable you to post content to the News and Gallery pages of your website; you will also be able to make changes to content across all the other pages.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is the most popular Content Management System and powers over 74 million websites across the globe. It is popular for its ease of use, flexibility and search engine friendliness.

What is a responsive website?

A responsive website has a fluid design, which adapts to the screen size of the device on which it is displayed. So, responsive websites are mobile-friendly, meaning that they display equally well on smart phones and tablets as they do on laptops. This is very important as search from mobile devices now accounts for almost 70% of all search enquiries.

Do you offer website and e-mail hosting services?

Yes we do – we are accredited resellers for a leading hosting company with over 40 000 clients and a 24/7 technical support team. This enables us to register domains and offer various hosting packages to suit the needs of our clients. We bundle these hosting packages with maintenance (updating your website platform and software) and support (assistance with your e-mail and any other technical support) components.

Can I move my website and hosting package to you?

Yes – we will assist you to move your domain, website and e-mail accounts over to us at no cost. Your domain remains under your ownership, it is only the administration of it that vests with us while you are hosting with us. Your domain may be moved as and when you please.

How do I accept your quotation?

Our web design and development quotations provide a detailed description of the services to be provided and our clients sign off on the quotation itself.  Our hosting services are provided on a month-to-month basis and you need not sign a contract for hosting.

What are your payment terms?

For website development, we take a 50% deposit on acceptance of quote and the balance is payable on completion. Hosting options include month-to-month, half-yearly and annual payment plans.
